A deep look at Razers Answer for a Multi-Purpose Notebook Gaming Mouse. Inside I review, explain and provide cheap locations in which to purchase the mouse....
Logitech MX Revolution Review Shaped like a Cresting wave; as smooth as a babies bottom and more advanced than any other mouse – Today I’m going to be reviewing the Logitech MX Revolution. I’ve been looking forward to this one – I have a friend who owned one of these babies before, and “dangit!”, that...
For my first review I figured I should choose a mouse deemed worthy of reviewing. Being a gamer at heart, and knowing the importance of a gaming mouse when it comes to MMO’s; The Razer Naga Mouse was a no-brainer. For those who aren’t gamers, but still remain interested in the Razer Naga Mouse –...
Bringing mobile gaming/use to a new level, the Razer Orochi presents its dual wired/wireless functionality – All packed into a small palm-sized futuristic stylish mouse.
“On-the-go” mousing is now a possibility, but more importantly, “gaming on-the-go” is now possible. After overlooking and inspecting this mouse, I came to the conclusion that not only is this mouse great for “on-the-go gamers”, but “on-the-go” business people too. The Razer Orochi makes what seems like a difficult task with a touch-pad seemingly easy.
Wicked! Now Razer truly are covering all angles, no wonder they are regarded the best in the business(Logitech a close second).
Buy from Amazon (Cheapest offer)
List of the Razer Orochi features:
As you can see most features are self-explanatory – But for those who are bedazzled by them, read on and I’ll do my best to explain them. Those who now know enough, you can read more reviews at Amazon here.
4000 DPI Razer Precision 3G Laser Sensor and On-The-Fly Sensitivity Adjustment
What is now becoming a trend with Razer mice – The Razer Orochi is no exception. With a boastful 4000 DPI and a Razer Precise 3G Laser Sensor, the Razer Orochi lets you tweak the sensitivity to a fraction, and without loss of tracking too! As always, I’d say this feature benefits gamers and designers mainly, whilst business people may not care for or need it.
Note: Apparently when using the Razer Orochi in wireless mode; the polling rate and DPI can’t be set as high. Not that you need 4000 DPI – 1800 is enough, but some people just like to be so darn precise!
“On-The-Fly Sensitivity Adjustment”, need I say more? during use of the mouse this features allows for a change of sensitivity without the hassle of having to go into the Razer driver menus and manually changing it – Again, a feature mainly made for gamers and designers.
Powered By Two AA Batteries
I know what you’re thinking, bad move right? But surprisingly enough, Razer have done a great job of squeezing as much time out of the mouse with a pair of two AA batteries than any other mouse has in the past. Albeit annoying to take batteries in and out every-time they run out, Razer have done a great job of placing the battery compartment under the two top buttons (left and right click), and have used magnets to keep the compartment closed – Making it easier to open/close in general.
This baby may not be rechargeable – But add the fact its life-span is greater than your usual wireless mouse and the open/close compartment is specifically made for easy access, and you have a mouse who deserves a chance regardless of its powering functions.
One thing worth mentioning is the high battery consumption the Razer Orochi has when the LED lights are on. A quick work around to this is to turn them “off” in the settings – Yes, they’ve given you that option too
For those of you who like “pretty shiny lights”, there isn’t more you can do about the consumption, only to be glad that when the mouse is not in use it turns itself off.
One last thing, for those who worry about battery loss during important games – Don’t panic, the mouse comes with a Battery Life Indicator.
7 fully programmable hypersponse buttons and 24 individual click positions on the scroll wheel..
Whilst the Orochi allows for the reprogramming of its 7 buttons, there is one downside worth noting – The reprogramming can only be done whilst the mouse is in wired mode, and once completed, the Orochi then stores the settings within the mouse itself. Allowing you to plug-and-play with your specific settings on any notebook/pc.
You can have up to a total of 5 application profiles. Which can either be changed upon using certain applications or changing them manually.
“24 individual click positions“… hmm.. how do I explain that one
– Alright, so you know when ever you scroll the mouse wheel on a mouse it usually scrolls by 1 segment, moving only several millimetres at a time. That is exactly what this means too, the mouse has 24 unique segments – Therefore having 24 unique click positions too.
Boy I made a mess of explaining that one – Either way I hope you got the gist of it!
dual mode wired/wireless functionality; Bluetooth 2.0 Connectivity and Detachable 3 foot lightweight braided cord
I wanted to explain these features together because they relate and function together to become one awesome feature!
First off, the Razer Orochi comes inbuilt with dual wired/wireless functionality meaning you can plug, and unplug the detachable 3 foot lightweight braided cord depending on what you prefer…“duhhh, state the obvious why don’t you”.
What this allows you to do is detach it for free-hand use when you might just want to browse the web or use some desktop applications, or attach the cord when you’re in the mood for some gaming or design (mice have always responded better when wired, no matter how many comparisons you do; it’s just the way it is)
Bluetooth 2.0 Connectivity, a feature I would say is the icing on the cake, allowing you to plug-and-play the Razer Orochi wirelessly or wired without the hassle of any software installation or long setup processes. The mouse comes with inbuilt profiles that you can setup and then use when plugged in elsewhere, can it be made any easier?
A surprise guest – One more feature I did not mention above. His name is “ambidextrous”
Due to its dual sided buttons, whether you’re a lefty or a righty, the Razer Orochi caters to both right hand and left hand gamers with buttons placed on either side of the mouse.
Note: It has been said that if you’re a right hand user the buttons on the right are hard to click with your “pinky” finger, and vice-versa with your left hand.

Any Complaints?
I couldn’t find many written statements in the way of “complaints”. But I did find this extract posted by a user:
“I’m grasping to think of any real “con” against this mouse. If I had to say two things I would like changed it would be: Make it so the wheel can both ratchet and free-scroll (I got used to free scrolling when not gaming) and have the side buttons not recess quite so far as the bottom edge of the top matte part is kind of sharp.
If you are looking for a portable sized gaming mouse or have a Razer on your desktop already and want to take the experience with you pick one up!”
Where can I buy the Razer Orochi?
One word, Amazon. Click on the blue hyper-link text at the start of this sentence to go to Amazon. I couldn’t find any other store that could beat Amazon for its price, not even the manufacturers website!
Where can I read more reviews?
Amazon is the best place for product reviews as that’s where products get reviewed a lot more often, and I generally find that the reviews there are more detailed. Click here to read the reviews.
What other products go well with the Razer Orochi?
Razer Kabuto Mouse Mat + Razer L33T Swag Pack

Instructions: To add these alongside your purchase of the mouse, click here and directly under the Image of the Razer Orochi you have “Frequently Bought Together”. Click “Add to cart”, and your set to go!
Hope you enjoyed yet another edition of my reviews,
thank-you.

Shaped like a Cresting wave; as smooth as a babies bottom and more advanced than any other mouse – Today I’m going to be reviewing the Logitech MX Revolution. I’ve been looking forward to this one – I have a friend who owned one of these babies before, and “dangit!”, that mouse felt goooooood.
Not only does the mouse feel good in your hands, but it looks good too. The curve on the left side of the mouse really accommodates your thumb nicely, and allows you to use a feature I will be speaking about later on in this review called the “Quick Flip” Thumb Wheel.
Another thing to note is the way in which its shaped allowing for the use of both small and large hands. Wadda-ya-know? Logitech was actually listening to us
As far as revolutionized goes, I don’t think its going to make a dramatic affect on the way we live, but it certainly has improved the way in which we use our computers. Allow me to explain – Logitech have added several features to the mouse allowing you to do things that would otherwise take ages, or be classed as very tedious tasks. The Logitech MX Revolution does a great job of eliminating those problems. In fact, the layout is surprisingly simple for a mouse that provides so much functionality.
Forget babies bottoms! Tell me what this bad-ass Logitech MX Revolution mouse can do and how it can help me – Right you are sir/ma’am
Al right so lets get to the features, but before we begin – Any gamer thinking of getting this mouse for gaming, don’t. Wireless mouses are notoriously known for responding horribly in-game and providing ridiculous tracking. I do however suggest getting this mouse if you’d like your usage of your desktop to be a more pleasant and enjoyable one!
List of features:
I bet some of those features are making your head churn with ideas about what they could be – Read on and I’ll tell ya
If you’d rather read it from the horses mouth click here for an official review over at Amazon.
If not, keep reading and I’ll make explaining the features as exciting as I can for ya (bless my little soul, I do try to make my reviews interesting
lemme know in the comments area what you think).
The Logitech MX Revolution SmartShift Technology presents revolutionary hyper-fast scroll wheel
Now that’s a chunk of text likely to leave you tongue tied – Or maybe it’s just me? Anyway, carrying on….
Logitech created what they have dubbed “SmartShift Technology”. This feature allows your Logitech MX Revolution to detect your current application and then automatically applies a scrolling mode that best fits the task at hand.
Amazing right? I thought so too. So let me give you an example – You’re using excel to browse a long document filled with rows upon rows; I’m talking about rows in the thousands. Your MX Revolution can then detect this and apply the right scrolling mode to make it easier for you to get to the section of the document that you want. The SmartShift Technology then utilizes a revolutionary mechanism called the “hyper-fast” scroll wheel that allows you to fly through documents at hyper-speed.
And I’m not joking when I say “hyper”. Literally, the mouse wheel has “0″ friction making it almost effortless to scroll to any part of the document you want. The SmartShift Technology doesn’t stop there
Operate the “Micro-Gear” scroll wheel in two distinct modes – Allowing you to scroll your Logitech MX Revolution faster and with more precision
Logitech then went ahead and created two operating modes for the Logitech MX Revolution:
Free-spin Mode
I guess the name gives it away – But when the Scroll Wheel is in the Free-Spin Mode, with a simple flick the machined alloy wheel (scroll wheel) can spin up to 7 seconds – What other mouse can do that? This allows you to go through thousands of pages or rows without so much as any effort on your part.
Click-to-Click Mode
This feature is standard in every mouse – Have you ever noticed when you move the scroll wheel on any other mouse it only moves by one segment? Well this is exactly what this mode is. This mode is specifically good for looking at things page-by-page and is the mode I’d recommend to have the mouse in the majority of the time – Saving the free-spin mode for when you have thousands of pages to go through (or something similar).
Alternatively, if you prefer not to use the SmartShift Technology and would rather switch between modes manually – With a light press on the scroll wheel you can shift “gears”.
One last interesting little fact you may want to know about the Scroll Wheel and SmartShift technology, if only for entertainment or info purposes:
“Logitech says that the MicroGear Scroll Wheel “represents the single largest engineering effort ever undertaken by our engineering team“. I always love learning these non-important but interesting little facts. Figured some of you might too
Oh and two other statements made by users of this mouse:
“The action feels much like a well-oiled roller-ball and offers blazing speed”
“Two other nifty functions make the Logitech MX Revolution a great tool for productivity freaks and power users”
Highlight and Touch to Search!
Have you ever wanted to highlight a word or a phrase, either in a word document, or in your internet browser and wanted to do a search on that word without having to visit the search engine and type it in? Well this is what this feature does, and it does it well. You highlight a word, and press the “Touch to Search” button located under the scroll wheel. Better yet, it also allows you to search using your favourite search engine – So you aren’t just limited to using Google.
“Freaking Awesome!” says me loudly in my head.
The Logitech MX Revolution document “Quick-Flip” Thumb Wheel
Another term that is now going to be used is “Quick-Flipping” coined by yours truly ‘Logitech’. However I do think this feature was a smart one by Logitech, and a trend that’s going to help them, more than hinder them.
This is basically Alt-Tabbing, but with the mouse instead. The side of the mouse has a horizontal scroll wheel, no different to your average mouse – Only that it is located on the side of the mouse instead. When clicking (or pressing) the scroll wheel a window comes up listing all current active application windows. Scrolling the mouse wheel then scrolls through the selection, until you land on the application you want. Clicking (pressing) the scroll wheel again selects that application and brings it up.
And that my friends is now called “Quick-Flipping”. Much easier than using Alt-tab I must say – And more convenient too. Quick note – You must install the software included to be able to use the “Quick-Flipping” function. You can see a picture of this scroll wheel below.
Wireless and it comes with a Nifty Charging Stand
you could debate the importance of this feature, and whether it should even be deemed important enough to speak of. But I beg to differ and think that the importance is relative to the opinions of the beholder. Which pretty much means I’m going to speak about this feature whether you like it or not
Skim past if you think other wise. If not, read on.
The mouse sits on what looks like a cut-off cylinder plastic cut at an angle. At the top of the cylinder is a small ridge that the mouse rests on while charging. See example picture below this text.
Nifty right?
The Logitech MX Revolution functions off a state-of-the-art cordless laser engine powered by Full-Speed USB Wireless technology. Pretty much meaning that it responds well regardless of the fact that it isn’t connected via a wire. Tracking on this mouse is not too shabby either considering its wireless – And the mouse also gets pretty good distance!
Lock n Load – Or in other words, connect and power the Logitech MX Revolution with a Rechargeable Lithium-ion Battery and a wireless USB micro-receiver adapter
Connecting the mouse is great, it couldn’t be made easier unless the mouse could get up on its own feet and plug the wireless USB adapter itself. The operating system detected the mouse straight away and my friend was “mousing” almost instantaneously. Sorry I stole that term from someone else, it just seemed to go great with the part of the review. If I knew their names, I’d give em a shout out but I don’t.
So instead, “shoutout to anonymous creator of term “mousing” hehe”
The rechargeable lithium-ion battery is a godsend. I mean, previous mice have required taking out the batteries every time they ran low or completely ran out, and eventually that would start to become a big hassle – I would know, I’ve had a wireless mouse before, and nothing as good as this mouse.
Unfortunately the mouse does not have a standby mode, and if forgotten to turn off, the battery is likely to run out whilst you’re not there. The recharging of the battery is still done via wall meaning having it plugged into the mains.
No, they haven’t got as far as to add USB charging to this mouse. All this technology and they forget this… I guess we can forgive them on the basis that this mouse is already “freaking awesome!”
Either way, provided you remember to switch the mouse off every-time you’re not using it and stick it on in the mains, you shouldn’t have any problems with it at all. Below is a picture showing you where the On/Off button is located.
I was going to add a sub-heading for On/Off switch – But considering I just showed you were it’s located, there isn’t much more you need to know about that.
That concludes my review of the features, relieved? I hope not, I rather you enjoyed it! I’d also rather it helped you make an informed decision as to whether this mouse is worth your time or not.
Precision Aiming gives it a BIG FAT “YES” and 5 Stars for desktop use; for its functionaility and its advanced technology.
In-terms of gaming, we wont give a rating. What I will say is this – After trying the mouse, like I said, it had mediocre tracking and it could be used for gaming. But there are other mouses more focused for gaming that have far better tracking – Both by Logitech and Razer, and Microsoft too(only 2 mouses though).
What’s Included:
Any Warranty?
Yes, read above in ‘what’s included’. Mentioned it again in-case you overlooked it.
What Other Are Saying
Any Complaints about the Logitech MX Revolution?
Rarely – If any at all. The biggest complaint is the fact the mouse only works for a day before needing to charge. Considering we need to sleep after a day of being awake, I think its safe to assume that we can charge this baby while were asleep.
Personally I would buy it from Amazon. Simply because I’ve yet to find any other store that sells this item for any cheaper… or any product for that matter. You simply can’t beat Amazon for its prices. I guess you could say it is the “Don of the Internet Malls“.

For my first review I figured I should choose a mouse deemed worthy of reviewing. Being a gamer at heart, and knowing the importance of a gaming mouse when it comes to MMO’s; The Razer Naga Mouse was a no-brainer. For those who aren’t gamers, but still remain interested in the Razer Naga Mouse – please, read on. The Razer Naga still has great features for desktop use too.
Saying that, you may be thinking (or at least some of you) why is the choice of a mouse so important? What does it matter? And what makes this Razer Naga Mouse any better than other mice or gaming mice for that matter.
And those would be good questions to ask. Over the following review I will explain in-detail, how the selection of a mouse should be a carefully calculated one, and how different features can make all the difference.
Here is a list of features deemed important by other gamers, and some by myself, depending on what your interest is with the Razer Naga Mouse:
Phew! Exhaustive list right? Didn’t know there was so many things to look at? Let me just ease your mind a bit
Not all those features have to be important to you, but they are ones to look at and at least inform yourself about when making a decision on a mouse. Let’s get you through this quick and easy (well I’ll try to do so without sacrificing the quality of my review, I know how people hate to read. Maybe in future I’ll make a video review)
Dot Per Inch (DPI) – How far can your mouse travel?
Excuse the horrible joke, I’m not on my game today it seems. Dots Per Inch, otherwise known as DPI for short is a setting now added to all top of the range gaming and non-gaming mouse to allow the user to finely tweak his/her sensitivity to the most precise movements possible. The higher the DPI, the less you have to move your mouse for the pointer to get to where you want it. Depending on how hard you want to work when moving your mouse, having it slightly on the higher side will mean having to work less to move your pointer whilst using your mouse for desktop tasks, or for playing games. Otherwise, if you like to have more control over your mouse and are heavy on your hand movement, setting the DPI to lower could be beneficial for not over extending your movements.
Personally as I have a small mouse pad, my DPI is set slightly on the higher side of the spectrum. The Razer Naga Mouse has a total of 5600 DPI giving you a ridiculous amount of razer precision. Aside from the Microsoft Intellimouse (which has 6000 DPI), you can’t get any higher, or shouldn’t need any higher DPI to fine tweak your sensitivity for perfection. Anyone who can’t find their perfect sensitivity with 5600 DPI is not doing it right. This feature gets 5-stars from me. 5600 DPI is more than enough!
Polling Rate (Hz) – Faster than Flash Gordon some say…
Are my jokes getting better? No? Maybe I should quit while I’m ahead…. Anyway carrying on; Polling rate isn’t a feature that is extremely important to gamers. Not any more anyway…
Since your standard mouse is now in-built with 500Hz (2 milliseconds), the need for anything higher is only an extra advantage. The difference between 2-milliseconds (500Hz) and 1-milliseconds (1000Hz) is undetectable by the human eye; Nonetheless Razer have an option in their mouse drivers to allow you to clock your mouse up to 1000Hz if desired. Just so you can be 1-millisecond faster than your opponent. Fortunately I welcome any improvement and have no reason not to take them up on the offer of 1000Hz and very happily set my Razer DeathAdder to 1000Hz in my driver options. Anything to get the edge right?
5 Stars!
Size does matter…
Now, when someone first sees the Razer Naga Mouse up-close for the first time, they think, “jeez, that mouse is HUGE!”. Some go as far as to worry that due to the size of the mouse it could hinder them in longer gaming sessions and fatigue their hand. But here’s the good news, because the mouse was ergonomically made, and focused at longer gaming sessions, all users of the mouse reported weeks after that there were no signs of fatigue and that the way the mouse is made was in-fact suitable for longer gaming sessions. This also means that for you desktop users, this mouse is still very suitable for office or home use!
4 Stars from me. Although the mouse keeps fatigue to a minimum, I still think the size brings it down by just a very small amount of points. Definitely not enough to shy me away from the mouse, but I would be lying if I gave this feature 5-stars. Those who like to game for longer periods, even if you do not go on to get the Razer Naga Mouse; Doing your due diligence in researching the suitability of the mouse will go a long way to making sure you have chosen the right Gaming or Desktop Mouse.
Size Vs Number of Buttons – Or do both go well together?
There isn’t a definitive answer to that question. That is based on your personal opinion and no-one but you can answer that question. What I can do is give you a detailed explanation of what each property can be useful for and not be useful for. Do you want a Mouse with large buttons, and lots of them. Maybe small sized buttons with more of them. As you can see, this is really down to personal preference.
I will say this, the larger the buttons the easier it gets to execute actions precisely. Whilst the more buttons there are, the more tasks you can do without having to overload your keyboard with actions. I’d say the Razer Naga Mouse does a good job of having its buttons not too big, but not too small either. In total there are 17 highly MMO-Optimized buttons, allowing you to bind up-to thousands of commands/actions in-game. A section of those 17 buttons including a 12 button thumb grid on the side of the mouse (as you can see in the picture). For those who do not game, but would like to shift the balance between the keyboard and the mouse, using the Razer drivers the mouse buttons can be re-programmed to also do desktop commands. How’s that for neat huh? 5 Stars from me!
The Purpose of the Razer Naga Mouse
Having read some of the reviews at Amazon, and the manufacturer features. The users, and the features state that the Razer Naga was built with MMO (Massive Multi-Player Online) and RTS (Real-time Strategy) players in mind. The mouse gives players the option to balance their actions between the mouse and the keyboard, with a total of 17 buttons and the possibility of storing commands in the thousands! Perfect for those who are either lazy to reach for the keyboard, or would like to execute actions much quicker and precisely. Adding to what people could say is an already perfect mouse for MMO and RTS, Razer then went and made the Razer Naga ergonomical allowing gamers to go for longer gaming sessions with minimal fatigue; if any at all! 5 Stars for the purpose of MMO’s or RTS gaming. 4 Stars for desktop use. Only 2 stars for players who wish to play FPS Games.
Gold-Plated USB Connector – My mouse has some bling bling!
Summarized in few words, Gold-Plated connectors allow for better conductivity, therefore increasing the performance of the peripheral. So in theory, the Razer Naga Mouse should perform better due to better conductivity. Unfortunately the difference is not noticeable by humans. But 5 stars because you can’t get any better than Gold-Plated. And at least it means your mouse has some bling
Length of Cable, Type of Cable, and why should feet be important on a Gaming Mouse?
I’d say all 3 of these features come highly under-estimated. The length of a cable can be very important. Nothing like buying a mouse only to find it doesn’t stretch far enough to go behind your desk, and onto your mouse pad. Fortunately the Razer Naga comes with a 7-foot cable.
Type of Cable – In short the Razer Naga Mouse has Fibre-Optic cable, meaning it can transfer data much quicker, meaning better response times from your mouse. This is a no-brainer and something that shouldn’t be taken with just a pinch of salt.
And finally the mouse feet. The mouse comes with Zero-Acoustic Ultraslick™ Teflon® feet. Zero-Acoustic meaning they make no sound when moving them along surfaces, and teflon feet allowing better on-screen tracking and is also a materal well known for being non-sticky. Great for sugar spillages on your mouse pad!
All 3 Get 5 Stars from me!
What’s Included:
What Other Gamers Are Saying
This mouse has received rave reviews from a ton of RTS/MMO players and even players who have long quit MMO’s or RTS games but still use the mouse for desktop use.
Here are some comments to date:
Any Complaints?
Complaints have been few and far between. The most notable complaint was the lack of support for re-mapping and macros. But since the release of the 2.0 drivers, users say that this problem has been fixed well, and in a timely fashion.
Where can you buy the Razer Naga Mouse MMO?
The cheapest I could find was Amazon. Since I found no other places who could match their price, I see no other reason to mention them. Amazon allows you to save a total of $10.00 (13% of its usual cost) and ships for free with Super Saver Shipping.
The Razer Naga Epic MMO Gaming Mouse is the upgrade to the original award-winning and massively popular Razer Naga that shifts the balance between the keyboard and mouse with its 17 MMO-optimized buttons. From the casual MMO gamer to the serious hardcore raider, the Razer Naga Epic will take you to the head of the pack in both PVE and PVP action.
